Welcome t0 2024
Happy New Year, everyone!
With this new year, comes new cosplans! And I have such an exciting line up!
Last year was a big learning year for me, I really started to hone in on my sewing skills and worked on bigger and bigger projects. I feel like I now know my sewing machine and the limits we can push - though there are still a LOT of things I don’t know and am excited to learn.
So let’s see what’s in the line up this year! I’m going to go in order of excitement.
First, Regency Era Moana. This is a Bridgerton-Moana crossover. I’ve been wanting to make a Regency Era gown because I LOVE Bridgerton - Queen Charlotte was a knife to the heart. If you haven’t watched it, watch it but keep in mind it’s…a little spicy. That seems to be the name of the game lately.
I chose Moana, because I was once told that everyone resonates with at least one Disney character and mine is absolutely Moana. The desire to settle down and please your family versus answering the pull of wanderlust is my entire personality.
Last year, I built a casual Moana, so it will be fun to build another version. This build will be completely self-designed and hand-made by me! I have already started sketching it out.
Next up, which is actually first on my to-do is my War of the Barons kit. For this I will need a surcoat, tunic, pants, and I’ll be adding a chainmail mantle and a full gambeson.
This event is the husband’s birthday weekend event, but I’m always happy to make more and immerse myself into another world.
I also had to get a new bow and it’s so much harder to shoot than my normal recurve.
Next will be the most difficult build I’ve ever made up to this time.
The Seanchan from Wheel of Time. This build requires several different mediums, 90% of which I haven’t mastered. But we’re hoping to have a group of us for Dragon Con this year!
It’s going to be a big year of making and I can’t wait to see how each cosplay unfolds!
